Director of Development, Individual Giving: Big Brothers Big Sisters of SE PA

Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA (BBBS SEPA) is the largest BBBS agency in the state and fourth largest in the nation. Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. BBBS SEPA seeks a Director of Development whose primary responsibility is to develop and expand the Agency’s effectiveness in identifying and securing greater levels of individual giving. This externally focused position reports to the Vice President, Fund Development and serves on the Agency’s Leadership Council.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. In partnership with the VP, Fund Development and Director of Development, Institutional Giving, develop and implement an annual fundraising plan and strategy.

2. Research, manage and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects that have major gift capacity and ensure that all donors receive appropriate, consistent recognition and reporting on the impact of their gift.

3. Manage Agency relationship with four Regional Boards. Assist the VP, Fund Development with providing support to the Governing Board in building relationships and developing engagement strategies with high capacity donors.

4. Work in tandem with Director of Institutional Giving on cross cultivation, event support and team cohesion; providing support to all divisional members as needed.

5. Maintain complete and accurate donor database records, including but not limited to call report updates, visitation schedules and other communications. Regularly analyze donor information in order to evaluate and maximize fundraising efforts.

6. Oversee Major Gift Officer position and mentor and train staff in individual giving practices.

7. Review and remain current in issues and trends in philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, mentoring, youth development, and the community at large.

8. Act as a partner within the Fund Development team, demonstrating a collaborative nature and collective ownership of overall team goals and objectives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Academic: Minimum Bachelor’s degree.

Professional:5+ years experience and demonstrated success in a fund development required.

Personal Attributes:Must be able to work independently without close management; possess a strong customer/client focus; have excellent communication, listening, interpersonal and organizational skills; be highly organized, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within diverse populations. Must also be flexible and enthusiastic; have an articulated belief in the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters; be proficient in Microsoft Office software packages; have experience with fund development databases, and possess individual transportation.
