General Manager: The Bearded Ladies Cabaret

Who we are:

We are a Philadelphia-based experimental cabaret company that is gaining momentum quickly. Our work is a hybrid between cabaret and devised theater; we often use popular culture, nostalgia, pleasure and spectacle to tackle hard, meaningful questions about contemporary identity.

You could be involved in:

  • our collaboration with Opera Philadelphia on an all new Andy Warhol Opera.
  • our new piece at Philadelphia pop-up gardens Bitter Homes and Gardens: A Botanical Hoedown.
  • our annual Bastille Day show, which has a huge talking baguette in it.

About the position:

The General Manager will work in collaboration with the Artistic Director, the Associate Artistic Director, and the Company Members to support, realize, and organize our big, bearded dreams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, all aspects of:

  • Bearded Company Management (Internal Health, Meeting Minutes & Follow-up, Record-Keeping)
  • Financial Management (Budgeting, QuickBooks, Annual Filings, Cash Flow)
  • Producing (Contracts, House Management, Tour & Travel Support)
  • Fundraising (Individual Donor Campaigns, Database Management)
  • Grants Management (Research, Editing, Submitting, Reporting, Tracking)
  • Managing Marketing, PR, & Communications (MailChimp, Light Graphic Design)


  • 3-5 years experience in arts administration, creative production, or other applicable work is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of QuickBooks and non-profit accounting.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to embrace a split-identity role of both “back-bone” and “public face” for the company
  • A generally positive demeanor when approaching challenges
  • A passion for supporting artists in whatever manner necessary

Other Requirements:

  • Must have personal laptop
  • Must love the word “Queer”
  • Must be a clear and reliable communicator
  • Must be available on some nights and weekends
  • Must be willing to make a two-year commitment to the position

You are someone who knows their schedule, their time and what they can accomplish, and you enjoy a good facial hair pun.
