Director of Development

The Center City District seeks an experienced and motivated individual to execute and drive fundraising efforts. The Director of Development is responsible for the development and strategic implementation of the Center City District Foundation’s fundraising for planning studies, operating needs and capital projects; in addition to, being responsible for foundation, government and corporate grant-writing and build and expand over time a base of donors to supplement traditional grant writing opportunities. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, responsibility for all grant-writing and development activities and closely collaborate with marketing, communications, finance, and sales departments; building relationships with key philanthropists, corporate leaders, foundation officers, volunteer leadership of CCD, CPDC, and CPTMA, and other constituents to cultivate donor support and achieve the Foundation’s fundraising goals; creating an annual plan that integrates all aspects of fundraising (appeals, fundraising events, major gifts, and grant support), sponsorship, and communications/marketing and may also work with revenue generating activities; guiding the development and activity of the Foundation Board – reconstitute, foster, and maintain an active group of board members and volunteer leaders to advocate for funding for the Foundation; and serving as Board liaison for the Foundation.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or advanced degree such as Master’s degree (MBA) is preferred and a minimum of five (5) years of experience fundraising experience in positions of progressive responsibility including corporate and foundation relations in a nonprofit environment. Familiarity with fundraising database systems, required. Candidate must have strong writing skills and demonstrated experience with writing foundation and other grant proposals, the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with top corporate leaders, philanthropic leaders, foundation officers, government leaders, donors, and other high level constituents, and have the ability to think and plan strategically, creatively, and independently, and must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and reference check.
