Managing Director: EgoPo Classic Theater

EgoPo Classic Theater in Philadelphia, seeks an experienced Managing Director to work with the Executive/Artistic Director and Board to lead the company into its next exciting phase.

EgoPo, now in its 21st season, the 9th in Philadelphia, produces innovative versions of classic plays with a strong physical focus.  Their three-show themed festival seasons provide audiences with a year-long artistic journey.  EgoPo which is now in residence at the Latvian Society Theater, has a $225,000 budget, a 2-person full-time staff, a growing subscription/membership base of over 300, and is highly respected for its rigorous and ambitious theater making.

Managing Director will lead all Administrative, Development and Marketing areas for the company with the help of a full-time administrative assistant/production manager and an experienced show-based production/artistic staff, and will report to the Executive/Artistic Director. Because of the small staff there are significant hands-on responsibilities.

Areas of responsibilities include, but not limited to:

-Accounting and Budgeting

-Grant research, tracking and writing

-Directing and supervising all administrative operations

-Overseeing Box Office and managing ticket system and database (Tessitura)

-Overseeing Publicity and Marketing

-Monitoring production processes

-Board, member and subscriber relations and cultivation

-Working with Artistic Team and Board in strategic planning

-Creating/Planning Annual Fundraising Events with the Board


Ideal Qualifications include:

-A minimum of 3-5 years in arts administration, and BA or MA in theater or theater administration or equivalent.

-Proven record of leadership and management

-Financial Management skills including Quickbooks

-Background in both grant writing and fundraising

-Experience with PR and Marketing

-Database and ticketing experience, ideally with Tessitura

-Strong self-motivated work ethic, passion, and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

-Superior organizational, communication, and writing skills.

-Experience in booking/touring

-Visionary leadership to help set the future of this exciting company


The position pays $26-30k, depending on qualifications, and includes fully paid health insurance and vacation package.  Expected July 1-15 start date.
