Tyler Arboretum is a 650 acre public garden located in Media PA, only 40 minutes from Center City Philadelphia. One of the oldest arboreta in the northeastern United States, Tyler Arboretum encompasses 650 acres of renowned plant collections, champion trees, historic buildings, and 17 miles of hiking trails through woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. The Arboretum offers workshops, classes, and tours for adults and children throughout the year.

The goal of the Communications Manager is to increase visitation and awareness of Tyler Arboretum among current and new markets, including Philadelphia.

The Communications and Publications Manager informs and guides strategy, with the Executive Director, and develops communications, website, traditional and social media, public relations messaging and collateral materials to consistently articulate the mission and vision for Tyler Arboretum. This position works closely with development, events, education, programs and horticulture to provide integrated and targeted communications that support the broad spectrum of arboretum activities. The Communications and Publications Manager will lead communications interns and staff to engage in a wide variety of projects and tasks.


Work Schedule: Full time with benefits

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• 3- 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work to deadlines and effectively multi-task
• A solid understanding of writing for digital and traditional (including broadcast) media
• Proficient in website design,  Adobe Creative Suite applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom, and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to mentor and engage interns with practical real-world experience pertinent to their learning goals
• Working knowledge of AP writing style and an interest in a career in non-profits is highly regarded
