Contract Program and Volunteer Manager: Roebling Museum

Roebling Museum’s mission is to document, preserve and exhibit the history of the John A. Roebling’s Sons Company, the Roebling family and the village of Roebling. Its focus is not only on the industrial and technological achievements of the company but on the unique social history of its workforce and the town it created.  The Museum bridges a storied past to the present by providing exhibits and programs directed at the interests of the worldwide public while also serving as a valuable resource for school curriculum enhancement programs and academic research.

Roebling Museum is seeking to engage a seasoned program and volunteer management professional with a minimum of 5 years experience, to take on a temporary position for a period of up 9-10 weeks (from mid-August to mid-October).  This individual will be responsible for management and scheduling of the museum’s volunteer docents and front desk/museum store staff.  The position requires this contractor to serve as professional staff in the museum three to four (3-4) days per week, typically Wednesday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays included.

Duties include maintaining and managing scheduled programs, scheduling and managing volunteers, scheduling and leading group tours of the museum, writing and posting daily on the museum’s social media pages, and interacting and engaging daily with visitors, volunteers, board members and other museum staff.  The position would be best served by an individual who has their own transportation.
