Writing and Research Specialist: The Wilma Theater

The Wilma Theater seeks a full-time Writing and Research Specialist to work cross-departmentally and fulfill institutional writing and research projects throughout the organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Write foundation, corporate, and government grant applications, reports, acknowledgement letters, and additional correspondence as warranted;
  • Generate boilerplate language for individual giving solicitation letters, acknowledgement letters, sponsorship requests, and future grant applications;
  • Coordinate all components of application packets; communicate application needs to other staff members in a timely fashion;
  • Manage Grant Calendar and communicate deadlines to Managing Director, Development Director, and General Manager;
  • Conduct research through Tessitura, Wealth Engine, GuideStar, and other search tools to identify corporate, individual, and foundation prospects;
  • Craft language for the Wilma’s strategic plan and capital campaign case statement;
  • Write press releases in collaboration with the Marketing and Community Relations Manager;
  • Write marketing and website copy in collaboration with the Marketing and Community Relations Manager and Digital Communications Manager;
  • Collaborate with Artistic and Education Departments on language and assessment descriptions for education and outreach programs;
  • Ghost write for executive and senior staff members as needed;
  • Serve as the primary copy editor and proofreader for all organizational communications;
  • Assist with opening night, Theater Lovers Fête, and other event-related activities as warranted;
  • Perform additional functions as requested.

Excellent and efficient writing skills, keen attention to detail, composure in working to multiple deadlines, and active calendar management required. Previous grantwriting experience in non-profit performing arts, knowledge of Tessitura Software and research programs, and a passion for theater preferred. Salary low to mid 30s plus benefits.
