Advanced Director – Child Care, Pre-K Counts, School Aged Child Care, Camp, Childwatch, and Family Programming: Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA

POSITION PURPOSE

The Advanced Director of Child Care and Family Services is expected to direct, supervise and coordinate the Child Care, Pre-K Counts, School Aged Child Care, Camp, Childwatch, and Family Programming programs at the branch regulated by DPW, ACA, Keystone STARS, or any other outside licensing programs and ensure staff excellence in service delivery to assure program retention, satisfaction and growth.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Exposure to high levels of noise, occasional exposure to weather.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word to impart oral information and to convey detailed, spoken instructions to staff, members, children, and volunteers accurately, quickly, and loudly; ability to perceive the nature of sounds by ear; ability to lift and carry 50-75 pounds; ability to move about on foot quickly; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; ability to clearly see at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Ed or BA in Arts Child Development.
  • Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education and Pennsylvania Director’s Credential
  • 5 years’ experience as a Children Director or 5 years’ experience working with children and adults.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification required within 60 days.
  • Physical ability to move from inside to outside, move across difficult terrain, demonstrates equipment use, see and hear participants in distress.
  • Experience in staff supervision, committees and in providing leadership to groups.
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate staff.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring financial projections, budgets and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Experience working with voluntary boards, committees and in providing leadership to these types of groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with problem solving skills. Demonstrated experience setting and managing priorities.
  • Ability to operate computer, communicate via email, telephone and in person. Ability to endure regular physical activity.
  • Knowledge and experience with computer software, i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook preferred.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence
  • Acquire and maintain the following certifications:
    • CPR Pro/AED/O2 (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
    • First Aid (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
    • Requisite Redwoods Online Trainings (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
