Started in 1980, the GBS/CIDP Foundation International has been the preeminent global non-profit organization supporting individuals and their families affected by Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and related syndromes such as multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) through a commitment to support, education, research, and advocacy. Every person affected by GBS, CIDP, or related syndromes such as MMN, has access to early and accurate diagnosis, appropriate and affordable treatment, and knowledgeable support services. The Foundation is committed to improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by GBS, CIDP, or related syndromes. Today the Foundation has become an international organization of 30,000 members with 182 chapters in 33 countries, all of them dedicated to providing support and assistance to GBS/CIDP patients and their families.

In the rapidly growing field of issue-specific health organizations, fundraising continues to be a priority, and this established organization is poised to pursue new opportunities to fund research and engage in patient advocacy. The next Executive Director will bring a passion and demonstrated knowledge of promoting visibility and outreach in chronic disease. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the leadership and direction of the organization, including the oversight of a professional team. For consideration, candidates must demonstrate experience in organization management, fundraising, interface with a volunteer board, financial oversight, and healthcare advocacy.

Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated board and volunteer interface
  • Prior experience leading national and international initiatives
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor cultivation
  • Experience communicating to a wide range of audiences
  • 10+ years of public or private sector management experience
  • Ability to travel nationally and globally
