The Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) is seeking a full-time Development Manager for a rapidly growing national patient advocacy organization. ACHA engages patients, caregivers, family members, healthcare providers, and researchers in activities to improve and extend the lives of the millions born with heart defects through education, advocacy and the promotion of research. Development Manager

ACHA’s Development Manager will work directly under the National Director of Development to coordinate ACHA development activities to 1) reach our fundraising goals and 2) develop strategies to support the growth and expansion of the organization. S/he will oversee annual appeal giving, grant writing, and assist with sponsorship solicitation. The Development Manager will also work closely with the Development Coordinator, the National Executive Director, and the ACHA Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Board.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data on individual donors, including donation entry and acknowledgement.
  • Create and monitor regular development reports.
  • Manage annual appeal timeline and solicitations.
  • Manage and improve donor communications and acknowledgement process
  • Research and Support the National Director of Development with major donor prospect, cultivation and solicitation activities.
  • Lead in the identification of grant prospects through research, Medical Advisory Board and staff & industry contacts.
  • Develop and manage an annual grant calendar to include renewals, progress reports and prospects.
  • Assist with conference and regional event sponsorship, exhibits and advertising.
  • Manage policies for and oversee maintenance of donor database


  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 3 years fundraising experience is required
  • 3 years experience using Raiser’s Edge desirable; Experience in Blackbaud Target Analytics and ResearchPoint is desirable
  • Microsoft Office experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and drive own programs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-pace environment
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Adult Congenital Heart Association
  • Ability to travel periodically required
