Executive Director: Capital Fringe

Capital Fringe is looking for an innovative, strategic leader with a demonstrated record of success to serve as its Executive Director. The Executive Director will work along side Capital Fringe’s Founder as a strategic thought partner to lead and grow the organization at a time of tremendous momentum as well as be responsible for the day-to-day operations.

The Executive Director will ensure that the financial, administrative and operational activities of Capital Fringe, including all on and offsite programs function at the highest levels and in accordance with the organization’s approved policies and procedures.

The Executive Director of Capital Fringe will be expected to maintain a strong, visible presence in the community, strengthen Fringe at the core and ensure its sustainable growth and financial stability. This position offers the opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to have a true impact on the DC area’s cultural landscape.


• A minimum of five to seven years experience as an executive with fundraising and management responsibility.
• Ability to analyze and present monthly and annual financial statements and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process. Liaise with external auditors and the Board finance committee.
• Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with Capital Fringe’s Founder and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership and board abreast of the organization’s financial status. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to leverage limited resources through effective delegation in order to manage multiple, competing priorities.
• Able to create and lead a vibrant team environment with staff, Board and other stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives.
• A creative, innovative and strategic thinker with extraordinary interpersonal skills who enjoys building relationships across stakeholder groups.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of, or keen interest in independent arts and artists.
• Familiarity with the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

Compensation: $80,000 to $100,000 based on experience.
