Development Director: Germantown Avenue Crisis Ministry (GACM)

GACM was founded in 1997 by a coalition of congregations in Northwest Philadelphia to serve the needs of its neighbors in crisis. GACM brings hope to the people it serves and inspires those who work and volunteer here. The Development Director will be instrumental in cultivating new donors (individual and corporate), bringing greater awareness to the organization’s work, (especially beyond NW Philadelphia), and building new partnerships. 2017 will mark the 20th anniversary of GACM. The Development Director will work with the Board of Directors and planning committee to develop and execute an anniversary celebration as a major fundraiser.

Summary: The focus of this position is to develop, maintain, and implement GACM’s annual fundraising strategies in collaboration with the Board and Executive Director. The individual in this position will be a development professional who can “hit the ground running” with proven experience implementing major fundraising events, securing the support and engagement of individual donors, corporations, community partners, the Board, stakeholders and other interested parties. The individual will have experience in helping nonprofits assess, plan for, and successfully build and diversify their revenue mix.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Board and Executive Director to develop and implement an annual fundraising and communication plan that supports the immediate and long-term goals of GACM.
  • Develop and maintain GACM’s donor database.
  • Plan and manage fundraising and donor events.
  • Support cultivation and stewardship of major donors and prospects.
  • Plan and execute solicitation campaigns, using various tools, including social media.
  • Conduct research on prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Meet GACM’s financial fundraising goal.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and grant research and writing.
  • Experience coordinating and executing large-scale fundraisers and online campaigns.
  • Strong event planning skills.
  • Excellent writing, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent research and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, solve problems, and make decisions in accordance with established policies and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to details and deadlines.

  • Part-time contract position (occasional evenings/weekends)
  • Compensation based on education and experience.
