The Franklin Institute is one of the leading science centers and museums in the country and the most visited museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as a top-five tourist destination in the City of Philadelphia.  We are looking for an experienced digital editorial director to support the Chief Digital Officer in leading exciting new content efforts across all platforms.  The Digital Editorial Director will play a lead role on the digital team in planning, developing, and implementing creative content across multiple platforms. This role requires a highly motivated, self-starter with a strategic vision of the digital landscape and excellent writing and communications skills to create engaging content.

Background should include a Bachelor’s degree with background in journalism, communications, English or a related field, and 6 or more years of experience developing and  managing digital editorial experiences.  Management experience of internal and distributed staffs of free lancer writers, editors, photographers, and videographers a must.  Should possess the ability to guide editorial contributors toward the creation of meaningful, quality content, with attention to serving the interests of the brand and the audience.  Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and monitor real-time science news and experiences is required.  Should have experience working with Google Analytics and other analytics tools and knowledgeable about new media trends, technologies, and experiences.   Must have excellent written and oral communications skills plus strong project management and organization skills.
