Position Summary

The Group Sales Manager is solely responsible for selling the National Constitution Center as a premier group visit and field trip destination and coordinating face to face meetings with new and existing clients.  The primary focus will be to build awareness, track growth, and increase sales within the independent and private school market.  Under the guidance of the Director or Group Sales, the Group Sales Manager will oversee the group sales staff and handle all aspects of the sales process including, but not limited to, developing new strategies, tactics, and plans for future growth, generating leads, initiating preliminary sales meetings, following up with new and existing clients, maintaining partnerships, meeting attendance goals and growing and managing the group sales database.

Responsibilities & Duties

Coordinate and travel to face to face sales meetings with potential clients in the tourism and education communities
Perform all sales functions including, but not limited to, cold calling, generating sales meetings with potential clients, tracking sales leads, and following up
Create customized sales presentation to deliver to potential clients as a way to sell all the museum has to offer.
Develop, maintain, and expand a database of prospective customers including private and independent schools, adult/senior groups and tour operators and manipulate it effectively in accordance with sales and marketing efforts
Seek out new customers and sales opportunities to help increase awareness
Supervise group sales staff with assistance from Director of Group Sales
Create new and unique sales pitches to generate enthusiasm from new and repeat clients for the main exhibit, feature exhibits, and educational programs
Work with Director of Group Sales to develop a solid group sales business model that will  increase department productivity while increasing attendance and revenue
Research sales trends; implement change based on trends
Utilize group reservation system as a way to track leads, calculate sales generated from sales meetings, and generate reports
Represent the National Constitution Center at tradeshows, conferences, and networking events
Continuously evaluate industry associations and potential partnerships that will increase the visibility of the Center
Establish and maintain solid business relationships with contacts at various external marketing, tourism, and hospitality organizations
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or hospitality-related field required
3 – 5 years customer service supervisory experience; sales experience in an attraction preferred
Proven track record in sales required
Ability to produce under tight deadlines and multiple priorities
Comfortable spending a lot of time in the field
Knowledge of Altru or related CRM preferred, but not required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must have a car for frequent sales calls and be able to travel to trade shows as required
Must have exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, or as part of a dynamic team
Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or holidays as needed and assigned
