We are currently seeking a highly-organized Manager, Programs & Events with strong communications skills to manage a portion of events and be personally responsible for planning and executing a wide variety of events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the creation and implementation of major events, receptions and other programs to make sure we deliver value to event participants.
  2. Execute 10-12 events and series per year ranging from 150 – 1550 attendees.
  3. Create and manage annual budgets for these events and series.
  4. Manage a direct report who is responsible for his/her own body of events and series.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with
    • Up to 50 sponsors and key stakeholders per major event, while ensuring needs and benefits are fulfilled
    • Speakers to ensure sponsors are satisfied and quality content messaging is delivered for programs and events, e.g. Diversity & Inclusion programs and Annual Meeting.
    • Major news networks when working with local and national talent,
    • Legislators and their aides by assisting Advocacy with communicating event details
    • Delivering on expectations of all.
  6. Assist Member Engagement on the development and presentation of proposals to potential and returning sponsors while also serving member needs and acting as an event liaison for board and high level members regarding registration, billing and seating.
  7. Manage the interaction with the Marketing Department to develop marketing plans for events to ensure that attendance goals and budgeted ticketed revenue are achieved and manage the implementation of direct marketing.
  8. Assist other Chamber departments with other meeting/gathering logistics, e.g. Regional Chamber Executive Luncheon and participate in the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Job Specifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in event planning and staff management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, on the telephone and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the Greater Philadelphia region and business community and experience in interacting with this market.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with creativity and innovation.
  • A self-starter who is able to work both independently and as part of a team. .
  • Computer proficiencies in Windows, MS Office – including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Work Conditions/Physical Demands

The Manager, Programs & Events works in a typical office environment. On a standard work day, the majority of time is spent sitting at a desk, using the computer and speaking on the phone. However, on a regular basis, the Manager, Programs & Events will be required to attend Chamber events or related outside meetings/events on behalf of the Chamber. These meetings/events may take place outside of regular business hours and outside of center city Philadelphia.
