Development Manager: The Enterprise Center

Position Description: The Development Manager’s core function is to complete grants and contract proposals (70%) in a timely manner that support The Enterprise Center and its affiliates which include a Community Development Corporation that focuses on community engagement and neighborhood revitalization and the Capital Corporation that provides access to capital for small businesses.

The Development Manager will work with the Executive President of Core and the development team to assist in communication and other development activities (25%) and provide organizational administrative support (5%).

Founded in 1989 by The Wharton Small Business Development Center, The Enterprise Center’s (TEC) mission is to better position minority enterprises to compete in the local, regional and global economies. TEC operates a portfolio of diverse programs that include incubation and acceleration of small businesses from start-up to mature, and provide business development, financial and lending services, business technical assistance, procurements and contract opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete funding proposals, including grants, contracts, and other opportunities to corporations, foundations, and government agencies
  • Manage end-to-end proposal process including completion of all components (e.g. narrative, budget) and simultaneous team management (program staff and non-program staff)
  • Support tracking of all grant and reporting/compliance deadlines progress and correspondence as well as information on funders
  • Ensure timely completion of all follow-up grant report submissions to current funders
  • Assist in other development activities related to prospecting, campaigns, events
  • Assist in promoting and enforcing organization-wide adoption of standardized marketing and communications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced environment
  • Clear and compelling written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas using written and visual communication
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking
  • Project and team management – ability to complete end-to-end, multi-faceted projects in timely manner
  • Self-starting / entrepreneurial – ability to manage multiple simultaneous activities, ranging from strategic to administrative, with little oversight
  • Proficiency and speed with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Working knowledge of Saleforce or other CRM software
  • Proficiency with online application platforms and grants systems
  • Experience with federal grants and contracts a plus
  • Experience with communications and/or design a plus

Bachelor’s degree required

Minimum 2-3 years experience; combination of education and experience considered.
