Job Title:                     Immigrant Crime Victim Case Manager

Supervisor:                 Managing Attorney

This is an exempt position; salary is commensurate with experience. Position will be open until filled.  HIAS Pennsylvania reserves the right to extend an offer to a qualified candidate before the application deadline date or to extend the application deadline.

General Position Description

HIAS Pennsylvania seeks a Master’s level social worker to provide culturally and linguistically accessible direct services to immigrant survivors of violence and serious crimes. The work is multi-faceted and includes:

  • Provision of information about the criminal justice process, victims’ rights, and available services
  • Facilitating referrals to other victim service programs and a range of services including legal assistance, mental health services, child care assistance, transportation assistance and ESL classes
  • Victim advocacy/accompaniment with law enforcement and within the criminal justice process
  • Identifying resources for immigrant victims
  • Personal advocacy with health care providers
  • Interpreter services and language access advocacy
  • Crisis intervention services
  • Victim impact statement assistance
  • Community outreach
  • Collaborating with victim service agencies and other service providers
  • Grant compliance activities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and information about the criminal justice system and safety planning
  • Provide assistance in applying for public benefits
  • Advocate for the needs of victims with medical providers, creditors, employers, landlord and various social service agencies
  • Offer home visits for victims unable to come into the office
  • Participate in Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), diversity, and other appropriate trainings
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with court, police, community groups, social service and agency employees
  • Translate written materials as needed
  • Keep comprehensive statistics on and documentation of all of the above services
  • Conduct outreach sessions in the Philadelphia area
  • Supervise social workers and MSW students as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The candidate should be passionate about HIAS PA’s mission and history and have a demonstrated ability to work with diverse collaborators and stakeholders. The candidate will be expected to engage in individual advocacy for victims with various stakeholders and will be responsible for grant management related work. In addition, the candidate should possess:

  • Master of Social Work plus two years post-graduate work experience (required)
  • Fluency in Spanish (required)
  • experience supervising BSW/MSW students strongly preferred
  • experience working with immigrants and/or victims of crime strongly preferred
  • experience with a public interest advocacy organization, advocating for low-income clients and/or working as part of a legal team is preferred
  • passion for working in a diverse community
  • excellent organizational and time management skills
  • ability to work independently/collaboratively
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management
