DESCRIPTION

Triskeles is a non-profit serving youth and communities in Chester, Montgomery and Phildaelphia Counties. Triskeles prepares diverse groups of youth for success by teaching them the skills needed to live a healthy life, the value of work, job readiness, leadership, and team work. In addition, we provide programs for whole communities to address pervasive issues of poverty such as hunger and food security.

GENERAL/BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The Executive Director position is the senior leadership position and the “public face” in a nonprofit organization which operates a variety of programs serving youth ages 6-20. The common thread in these programs is that they seek to develop “a world in which young people have the skills to enrich themselves, their communities and their planet through healthy lifestyles, meaningful work and participation in a more just and sustainable economy.” This position requires non-standard hours at times and reports to the Board of Trustees or their designee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

There are several areas of responsibility that this position requires:

1.      Funding, Partnership and Network Development

·        Develops, leads and sustains key organizational funding relationships( major donors)

·        Ensures a robust grants research/writing and administration program

·        Initiates and ensures the development and continuity of fundraising events

·        Designs and implements a planned giving program

·        Supervises and ensures the implementation of a robust annual appeal

·        Develops and implements strategies to increase the donor base and giving

·        Provides continuity and active engagement with key donors and board members

·        Recruits and engages new board members /committee members

·        Develops and implements outreach and marketing strategies/programs

·        Ensures responsible and effective gift stewardship and reporting

·        Has primary responsibility for the acquisition of, the development and the cultivation of funding relationships, and the successful closing of funding agreements

·        Cultivates relations with prospective and existing partners—with other staff

·        Acts as the public face of Triskeles: in-person appearances, media and conference appearances

·        Consults with the Board on fundraising priorities and strategies for Triskeles

2.     Financial Stewardship/Management

·        Ensures the financial viability of the organization using sound financial practices

·        Helps prepare and develop budgets; ensures budgetary compliance

o  Supervises and/or manages cash flow/ executes legal documents

o  Manages or oversees all bill paying/payroll/program expenses

o  Ensures compliance with all relevant legal requirements

o  Oversees/executes all required auditing and other financial reporting requirements

·        Maintains oversight/cost controls of budgets during program operations and adjusts budgets to reflect changes to income/expenses

·        Sets timetable for budget development with staff and presents responsible budgets to the board for approval

3.     Staff/Program Strategy and Management

·        Provides strategic and programmatic leadership

·        Communicates effectively and regularly with board and staff

·        Ensures organizational culture and environment is positive, compliant and participatory

·        Attracts and retains key staff and volunteers

·        Hires, supports, evaluates and fires senior staff

·        Helps set training goals and opportunities for staff development

·        Ensures that Triskeles policies and procedures are followed and that all reporting requirements are carried out by staff

4.     Planning

·        Actively leads staff and collaborates with board members in strategic planning sessions and review of strategic goals by providing vision, ideas and leadership; oversees program review with senior staff

·        Oversees the convening of staff sessions on program design of new youth programs and development of new program elements in existing programs; development of new partnerships and directions in alignment with Triskeles’ values and mission

 

5.     Reporting

·        Submits written and in-person reports to the President and Board as requested. Attends Triskeles’ Board meetings and organization events

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Proven record of major gift and other fundraising and development capacity

·        Demonstrated leadership and a social entrepreneurial record of building organizational strength and capacity

·        The willingness and ability to work independently and creatively in a senior leadership position within a collaborative organizational structure

·        Minimum BA/BS

·        10 years of broad and direct work and supervisory experience in related programs, including experience with diverse youth communities

·        Experience in program design and development

·        A strong track record of collaborative partnership development and funding procurement

·        Excellent people skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Overt demonstration of alignment with Triskeles’ values as evidenced through experience and personal history

·        Comfortable using technology, facile with common software applications; conversant with and supportive of social media
