Operations Manager: Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial

Under the supervision of Fleisher’s business manager and working closely with your colleagues across the orginization, you will coordinate operational details to ensure that delivery of Fleisher’s educational programs are of the highest quality, consistent with the goals and objectives outlined in Fleisher’s strategic plan. You will be the main point-of-contact to ensure that the needs of visitors, students, faculty, models, teaching assistants, and studio monitors are met with professionalism, efficiency, and grace.

You will manage all facets of Fleisher’s visitor services program, supervising a team of part-time staff whose primary responsibilities are to provide an incomparable first and lasting impression to all of Fleisher’s students and visitors. You will have a well-informed, working knowledge of the activities and services available at Fleisher, serving as an advocate for the visitor while promoting a safe, secure, and welcoming campus.

The Operations Manager position requires a highly organized person with strong communication skills, financial acumen, and excellent attention to detail. Must have flexible hours: generally, hours are 11-7 during weekday and 8-4 on Saturdays during the term, with flexibility to accommodate key times for registration and end-of-term surveys.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Faculty: contracts, payroll, and substitutions
  • Models: scheduling, payroll, substitutions
  • Purchasing supplies for classes and store
  • Hire, train, supervise, and schedule Visitor Services staff, including store clerk
  • Lead daily front desk operations
  • Oversee class locations and room set up
  • Handle Faculty requests for equipment and supply needs
  • Manage Tuition Assistance (includes distribution, and communication with students requesting tuition assistance, and ensuring that tuition assistance is appropriately promoted)
  • Monitor credit card use per budgeted expenses
  • Administer Programs-related job postings, onboarding, and termination


  • Four-year degree or equivalent
  • Two to three years of administrative experience, ideally in an arts administration/nonprofit organization
  • Excellent communication skills: phone, in person, and writing
  • Capable computer skills such as database entry, accounting software, and Excel.
  • Capable in setting up and troubleshooting meeting tools such as projectors, computers, etc.
  • Interest in local cultural programming and commitment to supporting Fleisher’s mission to make art accessible to everyone
  • Additional language skills preferred but not required

Physical requirements: you will be required to unpack heavy boxes and distribute contents to various locations in the buildings, and lock up the building at end-of-day which entails the ability to move heavy gates safely.

Est. $33,000 annually.
