Job Overview:

Drexel University is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Workforce and Economic Inclusion. The Assistant Director will work under the direction of the Director, Workforce and Economic Inclusion to manage and implement Drexel’s workforce development and adult education strategies.

The Manager will seamlessly blend together a network of internal and external partners to offer high-quality programming leading to credentials and job opportunities for West Philadelphia residents. The Manager will be responsible for managing Drexel’s portion of the University City District’s the new Lenfest Foundation grant.

The Manager will manage the operations of the adult education and workforce development programming at the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships. The Manager will directly oversee all program delivery and client services and will supervise all volunteers and partners, while integrating into existing systems and strengthening partnerships with a diverse array of constituent groups. The Manager will work with the Director to identify and implement additional training programs that lead to credentials.

The Manager will partner with the Office of Human Resources, University academic departments and University partners, vendors and tenants to oversee the development and implementation of workforce training programs leading to jobs within the University and/or in partner organizations.

Essential Functions:

Partner with the Office of Human Resources on all workforce pipeline programs into the University. This includes supporting recruitment, data analysis, and financial administration. Develop strong working relationship with HR partners at the University’s vendors and tenants to support local recruitment and hiring efforts. Partner with Drexel academic units to develop, implement and assess workforce training and credentialing programs for local residents.

Manage the relationship with University City District’s West Philadelphia Skills Initiative to ensure that all grant deliverables are met on time and on budget. Implement systems to ensure consistent communication between the network of adult education and workforce development partners at the Dornsife Center so programming is offered seamlessly to visitors.

Manage the strategic scheduling of adult education and workforce development classes and programming in the Dornsife Center. All scheduled activities should align with Drexel’s strategic agenda, with areas of highest priority being taken into consideration. This scheduling will be done in collaboration with the Dornsife Logistics Manager.

Facilitate one-on-one and class trainings with learners from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Develop new curricula for adult learners based on participant interest, observations in the Dornsife computer labs and employment opportunities as they become available.

Develop an ongoing system for assessing areas of need and strategies for addressing those deficits. Facilitate focus groups and surveys to measure interests.

Work with UCP, HR and Dornsife teams to develop effective marketing and communications strategies for all workforce and adult education programming. Assess effectiveness of marketing vehicles and alter as necessary.

Make regularly contributions to the Dornsife social media pages, Dornsife Connector, etc. to increase program visibility. Formalize an intake/assessment process for all workforce/adult ed programming to establish baseline data. Develop a system for follow-up across all partners to determine gains made in literacy, educational attainment, jobs, wage growth, etc. Generate reports on program utilization and effectiveness to be shared on a regularly scheduled basis with internal and external stakeholders. Pull ad-hoc reports as requested.

Maintain a working knowledge of city-wide resources and partners in order to make effective referrals for visitors seeking services that are not offered by Drexel. Develop relationships with non-profit partners to increase active referrals and collaborations.
