Managing Director, Philanthropy: Brandywine Health Foundation

BACKGROUND

The Brandywine Health Foundation is a grant making public charity located in Chester County, PA. Its mission is to advance a more equitable, resilient and healthy Greater Coatesville community. Founded in 2001, the Foundation has established a strong community presence through its various roles as a convener, grant maker, fund raiser, and program administrator. This is an exciting time to join the Foundation team as we seek a new team member to bring new innovative approaches to our development efforts in support of new 2020-2022 Strategic Plan.

JOB SUMMARY

The Managing Director, Philanthropy is responsible for the growth, identification, cultivation, successful solicitation, and negotiation of gifts, grants, and sponsorships to support the mission of the foundation. He/She builds and maintains relationships with individual, family, corporate donors, grantors, sponsors, prospects, local and regional governmental agencies. In addition, provides collaborative leadership with other team members including Chief Impact Officer, Strategy Officer, and Board led Committee(s). This position is primarily responsible for developing and executing an effective and measureable fund development and communication plan that supports our brand identity and new strategic direction. This position reports directly to the President/CEO.

DUTIES

Development

  • Lead fund development activities for operating support, signature programs, including our Greening Coatesville Initiative, new collaborative ventures, capital campaigns, and endowment
  • Introduce and implement new innovative development strategies and manage a portfolio of new and existing diverse individual prospects and donors, corporate sponsors and foundations aimed at meeting annual unrestricted and restricted fundraising
  • Proven track record of engaging donors and securing contributions across generations and among diverse groups.
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage donor/prospect management systems and reconcile revenue and expense reports with accounting team
  • Lead annual signature fundraising event(s).
  • Support grant writing efforts in partnership with the Strategy Officer and other team

Communication

  • Develop an integrated development and marketing communication plan to increase revenue and
  • Develop new promotional materials in partnership with team members and lead publicity of programs and mission.
  • Work with communication and graphic arts consultants ensuring strong brand identify and consistent messaging through various print materials and social

Partnership & Engagement

  • Increase the foundation’s strategic partnerships with aligned corporate social responsible
  • Move donors to become more strategically based partners vs. solicitor oriented
  • Provide leadership, support, and direction with volunteer committee(s) to raise awareness of and funds for the
  • Work with other team members to attract, recruit, involve and retain volunteers participating in the devel- opment activities of the
  • Partner with the President/CEO to strengthen relationships with key donors, corporate and Foundation part- ners across
  • Participate and engage externally as representative of the Foundation on select boards, in public settings, BHF presentations, and attending events and meetings in the absence of President/CEO and Chief Impact

Other

  • Prepare and monitor reports to analyze cost efficiency of internal and external
  • Take on other responsibilities as appropriate or as assigned by the President/CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master      Business    Administration,     Public     Health,     Government     Relations,     Policy,     or Communication/Marketing.
  • Proven track record of meeting annual fundraising
  • At least five years of development leadership in a non-profit organization; Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferred
  • 3-5 years successful special events and or marketing experience in a nonprofit organization or a
  • Demonstrated fiscal management, facility and experience with computer software: Microsoft Word, Excel and presentation software, fund raising database
  • Demonstrated aptitude and cultural humility in working with diverse community groups, including major individual and corporate
