NSC delivers a 360° client experience from early pathways to stability toward long-term economic mobility. Our comprehensive and integrated services include housing and community resettlement for refugees, asylees, and victims of trafficking/torture; English language classes; legal protections and remedies; health and wellness; job readiness training and employment placement.  Each year NSC serves approximately 5,000 individuals from over 110 countries.

As a 501(c)(3), NSC currently has 100+ full-time and part-time employees. Our revenue mix includes public grants and contracts, foundation grants, individual donations, fees for service, corporate sponsorships, and earned revenue. Headquartered in Center City, Philadelphia, PA, we are currently operating a hybrid remote office schedule.

Program Summary

The goal of the program is to assist clients in addressing barriers to employment and achieving self-sufficiency. ERP provides comprehensive services to all clients and their families including employment services, case management, career coaching and English Learning.

 Position Summary

Requirements

  • COVID-Vaccine – NSC has determined that requiring that all staff who are working on-site be fully vaccinated is the best way to protect our employees and the community.
  • Working in the office is required for the Philadelphia office and other locations as well as offsite travel when necessary, including accompanying clients to health appointments. NSC is currently operating on a hybrid remote/office schedule.

  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Oversee eligibility determination for referred individuals, and develop and monitor mechanisms for identifying, linking, and serving eligible refugee & immigrant populations.
  2. Oversee daily operations, case assignment and service delivery of ERP direct service staff.
  3. Supervise Case Managers, Case Aides, AmeriCorps volunteers, and MSW interns, provide performance evaluations, and serve as hiring manager for program staff.
  4. Coordinate activities and service delivery between Employment, Case Management and ESL teams, as well as lead recurring meetings with local resettlement organizations, to ensure program compliance.
  5. Identify gaps in service delivery system, referral networks and outreach methods and use a collaborative approach to find solutions to increase capacity.
  6. Collaborate with the Senior Manager to identify opportunities for community awareness and secure new opportunities to strengthen the program.
  7. Manage quality assurance including routine auditing of case files, case notes and data entry
  8. Assist Senior Manager to maintain financial records, track program spending, and meet reporting requirements.
  9. Work with Senior Manager to explore new funding resources and secure new opportunities to strengthen the program.
  10. Attend and/ or participate in funder sponsored conference calls, webinars, and workshops.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Adheres to NSC’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Facilitates and attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
  • Completes special projects specific to the function of the department or as needed for the department as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Represent NSC at local, state and national levels.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years of case management experience and supervisory experience desired. Working within the refugee and immigrant community is a plus. Experience working with underserved and diverse populations, especially within workforce development or resettlement programming, is preferred.
  • Minimum Education: BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of   study preferred but relevant experience will be considered.
  • Basic understanding of NSC’s mission, vision, values, programs and services, and business plan.
  • Knowledge of legal and political issues, and community resources and benefits that impact and/or benefit the immigrant or refugee client needs.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use a variety of common software programs including Microsoft Office, Zoom, spreadsheets, and customized databases.
  • Adheres to all NSC and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively communicate with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to effectively onboard, train, and supervise a diverse team of individuals.
  • Knowledge of basic client management procedures for determining eligibility, assessing needs, identifying resources, making referrals, following up, and documenting client interactions and proactively supporting client’s pursuit of goals.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects through delegation of responsibilities, communicating objectives, setting goals, driving results, and coordination.
  • Ability to effectively present topics and information and promote understanding to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to effectively interview and engage a client in appropriate programming.
  • Ability to work in a team structure – demonstrating ability to collaborate and contribute to the team’s work.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Although work is primarily indoors, you may be required to travel outside to community, business partner, and social service locations.
  • Position may require occasional trips to attend conferences seminars, and meetings.
  • Work outside of traditional work hours may be necessary based on operational and agency needs.
  • Currently, the agency is operating with a hybrid model – in-person/working from home due to the effect of the pandemic.

LOCATION AND HOURS: This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Philadelphia office with the potential for hybrid work as team needs allow. Our regular hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and this position requires working occasional evenings and weekends. We have COVID-19 safety protocols in place, and we revisit and update them in accordance with city, state, and federal guidelines.

COMPENSATION: The salary range is $55,000 commensurate with experience. The benefits package includes generous vacation and sick leave; paid sabbatical leave; summer hours; 77% employer-paid health, dental, and vision coverage; short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance, 403(b) with an employer match.
